Forgotten closet part 1

Today:Ancient Bikkemberger boots, bought because they're similar to something my style icon Judd Nelson wore in the opening scenes of Breakfast Club. Will wear them to client meeting with plaid dress and jean jacket. Will see how that goes.

Dear readers, a preview of this week's upcoming blog

This week, I'll make an effort to wear clothes I never wear. The reason? To make us all see if it's true that we don't need to buy new clothes, just use the ones we already have.I'll try to remember why I bought the clothes in the first place.

First out: A leopard jacket I bought at H&M about 4 or 5 years ago. It's like wearing a plush toy. The kids at daycare love it. I do too, I just never remember to wear it. Plus, it's a little demanding, it asks a certain confidence to wear it. It's not what you feel like wearing any given Monday morning. In return, it generates compliments.
Readers who've been with me for a while will remember it from Joel's baby days.
What's your weirdest purchase?

Dear Rogier van der Weyden

I love this painting so much. L'il Jesus is so stoked to eat and so full of love and laughter! Look at his little feet, toes and fingers all spread in joyful anticipation. His eyes are smiling. Christ, how cute! St Luke is taking notes. Or perhaps makes a sketch of the lady, child and boob. Rogier, thank you for giving your rendition of how what might have been!

I can stare at this one forever. I've seen it live, in Boston. Might have to go there again just to take another look.

Dear Vermeer

I like you, but I'm just as mad about Rogier, Jan and Hans.

Dear son

Everyday conversation

Anders: When you were a teen, what music did you listen to?

Me: The Cure, Jesus & Mary Chain, The Smiths. You know.

Anders: Ah. Rebellious music for people who get all A's except for in Phys Ed.

Me: I guess. What did you listen to?

Anders: AC/DC! And Maiden!
