Dear readers, a preview of this week's upcoming blog

This week, I'll make an effort to wear clothes I never wear. The reason? To make us all see if it's true that we don't need to buy new clothes, just use the ones we already have.I'll try to remember why I bought the clothes in the first place.

First out: A leopard jacket I bought at H&M about 4 or 5 years ago. It's like wearing a plush toy. The kids at daycare love it. I do too, I just never remember to wear it. Plus, it's a little demanding, it asks a certain confidence to wear it. It's not what you feel like wearing any given Monday morning. In return, it generates compliments.
Readers who've been with me for a while will remember it from Joel's baby days.
What's your weirdest purchase?

Emi, you wear it well! Fabulous coat. I wish I could wear the dresses I've purchased for more formal parties etc. more often. Am sure dressing in diamante, silks and tulle would set me up for week but am sure I would get some strange looks in the office.

Well, I bought an awful lime striped poncho in LA, totally giddy about the sun and surf. Will never wear again.

Also bought a Bollywood outfit for a Pakistani wedding. Letting that go too. Not a bad outfit, just not a good color.

That jacket looks fantabulous on you. You should wear it more.

I bought a vintage fake leopard coat from a thrift shop 20 years ago and wear it A LOT.

Recently cured of a destructive shoe-buying habit--my bunioned feet are impossible to please--I still keep a shoe cache.

Among the 50+ shoes buried in my closet are a pair of never-worn Nine West tweed and brown patent leather stilletto-heeled t-straps and a pair of twice-worn BCBG Mazazria 3" heeled, round-toed t-straps.

I have a thing for t-straps.

Love your coat. And you in it!

I just bought myself a Vivienne Westwood coat. I am so happy, I frequently find myself stroking it, since it is slightly too warm to be able to wear it yet.
