CRAZY! message to the US and the Bush administration much? It's like a welcome back to humanity, no?

I don't get it. He doesn't deserve it. He hasn't done anything yet. yes, nice message and all that, but I don't think that's the point of the Nobel Peace Prize. At least it shouldn't be.

I agree with both of you! I would have said YES! to many worthy people.

i agree with both of you, too. and i think the perception of obama outside the us is quite different than how people, even those who've supported him, see him these days. peace prize? what the hell for?

I keep having to remind myself he's probably at least as shocked as I am. It's not his fault they gave it to him!

I fear the world's neo-cons won't be so generous. They really will hold it against him. How can this be good for him, once the first thrill is over? How much harder will it be to make the inevitable mistakes that he is bound to make in the next three years when you've got the shadow of that goddamn prize and all those horrid naysayers hanging over you? It's not just the right wing - the left wing press in the US and in Britain is already sniggering and rubbing their hands, detailing 9 months of warmongering in Afghanistan and all the rest that he has - so far - failed to achieve. Will the fact that five Norwegians are on his side make things seem brighter when news on the domestic front is so chill?

What's the point of him accepting it? I so hope he doesn't. He doesn't need the money and I think in the long term he should probably do without the honour.
