I red the book many years ago.
There's a wonderful movie made by Visconti with a tremendous cast (Burt Lancaster is the Principe Fabrizio, Alain Delon is Tancredi and Claudia Cardinale is Angelica). I have the idea that the leopard is a rather incorrect translation, the title in italian is Il Gattopardo and Tomasi di Lampedusa himself defines a gattopardo as a lion.
