Time travel
In the 1850's Anders and I were poor farmers about to emigrate to America. This is what we looked like. Poor but proud.
12 years this year with this man. Met him for real on November 12, 1999. He looks the same, only now he has hair. For some men, the last 12 years have had the opposite effect on their scalps.

Update -Forgotten Closet
Wednesday, October 26, 2011
Tomorrow - forgotten closet.
Am spending all day tomorrow with my mom.
Thinking I should take the opportunity to also turn it into a forgotten closet day.
Right now, many of the fashion magazines list their MUST HAVES FOR FALL.
Here's mine.
TORCH LIGHT!
WARM GLOVES!
FOOT SURGERY!
CHOCOLATE IN EVERY POCKET.
A CHILD'S RECENTLY LOST TOOTH!
ORANGES!
A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN!
TOOTH REMOVAL!
PAIN KILLERS BECAUSE OF TOOTH REMOVAL!
THE ABILITY TO SEE A PONCHO WITHOUT THINKING "COVERS A MULTITUDE OF SINS!"
NEW GLASSES! I LOVE MY NEW GLASSES!!!
was just checking out closet visit where the women are all gorgeous and worship isabel marant. I was thinking of my own style icons.
They are:
Children. When left to do their own dressing, kids dress so amazingly. They get away with anything.
Claudia Cardinale/Sophia Loren/Stefania Sandrelli
Ali McGraw
Niki de Saint Phalle
Marie Louise Ekman
Finnish women in general
Claudette Colbert/Rosalind Russell/Myrna Loy/Paulette Goddard
Marion Cotillard.
Bianca Jagger.
Georgia o'Keefe.
Will try my best to mimic any of these sources of inspiration. Feel free to laugh at me. I love laughter!

The not very generous part of my mind
There are days when I get so upset about the way some people throw around perfectly useful words in a too repetitious way, days when I think it should be criminal to overuse words.
We all need those great words.
The way I see it, some people take to useful words like some people take antibiotics. Don't do it! One day, you'll be in need of a word like "brilliant", and then you can't, because it's overused.
Think about it.
your

ps. This is a ridiculous way of thinking of words and word usage, as language is an organic life form that adapts according to circumstance and environment. New words emerge.
ps 2. Are you lost to WordFeud yet? I haven't even dared to try it. I was born during a game of Scrabble. I wouldn't be able to handle it. At all.
ps 3. Yes, that would be me showing Cary Grant the correct spelling of hippopotamuses.

Dear Granny
I haven't inherited a great many things, but seriously treasure the things I have. Like this huge paper clip, marked THINK that I got from my funny granny who had to remind herself of important things like this. Widowed for many, many years, she also had a sign on her wall saying (rough translation) "Solitude requires carefully selected company".
Farmor, saknar dig!
Would love to go to Madrid
Style Icon
When I grow up I want to look like Jenny (yes, as seen on advanced style!). Actually, I'd like to look like Jenny right now. Like her top here, tell me if you've seen a basic essential like this anywhere recently. Boat-necked, 3/4 sleeved.

Homo urbanus revisited.
5 years ago, I spotted two rare specimens of the Homo Urbanus species.
Yesterday, I went back the spot where I first saw them, and there they were, again!
Even better, since I last saw them, they had spawned a new generation!
Dear folks
What did you do this morning? Did you have two teeth pulled? I did. Now, for a limited time only, am able to give the world one of the world's most touching gifts: the forced smile of someone who can't really smile.
My tongue is tingling, my cheek feels enormous. To cheer myself up, bought a latte. Tried to drink from the to go-cup, but had no feeling in my lips so was afraid to pour coffee all over me, had to walk up to the office to take the lid off and drink it in front of mirror to make sure contents went into my mouth.
I often think about people who've lived before us and I'm pretty sure the one thing they envy us is not Radiohead, lattes, cars or even on-line dating. What they'd give an arm and a leg for is probably this: modern dental care.
The teeth I pulled were my wisdom teeth. Every time I've had a baby, a new wisdom tooth has appeared. I think my body thinks like this: If you think about the history of mankind, most people lived only till 25-30 years of age. But you, old woman, decide to have your babies at 30, 33 and 36, aren't you dead yet? Your teeth must be kaput, better send up some new ones for you to use when pre-chewing stuff for the little ones.
In top pic, you can see how the procedure was carried out this morning. Below pic is me right now, you know, just hanging out with pulled teeth.
More on ancient teeth here. Don't worry, it's not scary. It's just a 2 500 years old BLINGING SMILE.

About a hundred years ago, I had a knitting machine and dreams of one day making sweaters like the one here. That never happened. But this Good Egg person, I think she's a genius. You can buy her Robot sweater here.

When blogs collide
Lovely, lovely Malin Elmlid came by the office.
Yesterday, she hosted a breakfast to share her great ideas about bread not for sale. But up for barter! She also told us about setting a sourdough while traveling on horseback through the Sinai. Under a starlit sky. Alone. Read more about her here. And yes, that's Lotta in top pic.

Taking a break from medieval times to listen to Terror Squad
I love this song.
Advantage of having kids who don't understand English - no awkward discussions because of lyrics.

Wonderful things of the past
Here is a page from the Isabella Breviary. It's a party, all the saints are living it up in heaven. But don't you just love the rest of the page? The gold, the details from nature, the charming busty creature looking in a mirror?

Wedding reception
Going to a wedding reception today. Which outfit?
My own wedding dress? Perhaps a faux pas to wear your wedding dress to a wedding?
