People say writing is such a lonely profession
I say that's a problem only when the writing's not really coming along. When it does, you prefer to be by yourself.

Things I stumble across
Great transportation.
The family tree.
But can you put it in the dishwasher?
This is a part of my job that I LOVE but rarely get to cherish: visiting book stores, just browsing books.

Meat eaters?
![]() |
| actual photo. |
I'm not big on meat and whenever I do eat meat, I fall over from exhaustion.
Had bibimbap for lunch, now my body would like to tell my employer the following:
"Please let Emi Guner go. Her brain can not perform while we, the more important body is busy at work digesting meat. Let her sleep, we can work magic while she sleeps. You can have her brain back next week."

REEN! On running in Stockholm
Go running all around Djurgården. So beautiful.
Or run in Hagaparken.
If it rains, go to Eriksdalsbadet for a swim in the almost empty (when raining) outdoor pool or run on their treadmills.
Happy running, such a shame I will just miss you!

My first family
Thinking back, this is how I remember family life. This is not the whole truth, but it's what I prefer to revisit. The four of us playing games. Dad pretending he doesn't know the rules, arguing his case in a way that's just too insane and hilarious to take. I'm doubling over from laughing to the right, my brother tipping backward, I can hear him howling. Mom, always the voice of reason, is hearing dad out, preparing to shoot down his ridiculous and extensive arguments with logic.

Such a great pic to go with an obit!
Such a great obit too. Jean Bach seems to have been amazing.
"As a teenager she knocked on Duke Ellington’s door and established a lasting friendship.
Moving east to attend Vassar College, a short train ride from Harlem, she practically majored in trips to the Apollo Theater."
Jean passed at the age of 94. "Until six months ago, she was out on the town listening to jazz."
Friends, take note - this is exactly how I want to go.

Disappearing comments
I hate Bloggers comment-thing.
I love love love every comment you make, not even "you're ugly" could really get me down. A reader connected! But now I've heard from several of you that you've tried to post comments only to see them disappear.
I've tried to fix it.
Leave a comment to see if it works now.
If you don't know what to say, simply type in where you're reading this. Arm chair, Alabama, subway Sydney etc.
THANK YOU!

Can I get a reader's honest account please?
Is this worth buying? I've loved so many of his books, but could not get into Chipmunk Squirrel manifesto whatever.
Weirdest phone call
Phone rings.
Caller: CONGRATULATIONS! I'm giving you the chance for a free makeover! Then you get to have your picture taken!!!
Me: Say what?
Caller: "I repeat: I'm giving you the chance for a free makeover! Then you get to have your picture taken!!!"

Me: Why would I do that?
Caller: Because!
Me: But you know...I'm a GROOOOWN WOMAN.
Caller: I mostly book women your age.
Me: It's not for me.
Caller: ARE YOU SURE.
Me: I'm sure.

Americans, please help
We're moving to NYC in about a month.
I suddenly realized my e-mail address might not be the best choice as I enter my new life as a Brooklyn parent?
it's
emi at lovegun dot net
I don't love guns, instead, I'm armed with love. And having your company named the same way as a KISS song is a great way to pep yourself when needed.
lovegun dot com is some porn site that I might get confused with.
would you get a different mail address if you were me?
Or just tell people to deal with it?
I need help here. Help me. Please.

More Kerber
The very day I had this pic taken to remind me how much I love this blouse, a woman told me to remember to wear sun protection. Does it look like this ghost of a woman needs that?
I keep posting Kerber-pics because I really, really like Marielle and her whole business. You can't stop me.

Kerber on a model and in real life
Went to the Kerber pop-up store and like a child, I put my old clothes in a bag and walked out wearing this blouse. Someone told me that's how you should always shop. If you don't want to put it on right away, perhaps you don't really want it and have better things at home.
Color is Tiffany blue, a great choice for all of us who will never get or buy anything from there but still associate this particular hue with some kind of...privilege.
